You need JavaScript enabled to view it The Stammtisch El Dorado is an American-German-Club located in Placerville, CA east of Sacramento in the beautiful Sierra foothills. Our primary goal is to maintain our German heritage and have fun. But there not only Germans in our Club. Of course there are Americans, Dutch and Swiss and other nationalities. We meet to major functions like our famous Oktoberfest or Karnevall, but also to other events. Our club was founded on September 19th 1998 by our first president Sibylle Kraft. Last year we celebrated last 10th anniversary. From a small club with a few members we grow to a large (but not to large) group of members over the last years. “Stammtisch is a German word which describes a “friendship table at a favorite tavern,” traditionally reserved exclusively for regular patrons. "Stammtisch El Dorado” is an exclusive, private, non-profit organization whose members meet regularly to enjoy good food, traditional music with sing-alongs and “schunkeln," *1 and good old-fashioned camaraderie in the spirit of “Gemuetlichkeit".*2 
*1: “Schunkeln” is the traditional hooking of arms or holding of hands to sway with the music.
*2: “Gemuetlichkeit” means ambient atmorpshere. “Life’s too short to be disciplined and industrious ALL the time, so we come up with a lot of FUN stuff to do. Even though we are a young organization, we’ve celebrated many memorable events in old-world fashion: Oktoberfest, Advent parties, Fasching (our own version of Mardi Gras), Lumpen Ball (Rag-Ball), Hot August Night Event and Maifest. Some of these events are open to the general public. Entertainment is constantly being added at the suggestion of our membership. We aim to get together frequently for special interest outings, picnics or theme parties either at gracious member’s private residences or rented facilities. Suggestions are always encouraged and will be implemented if sufficient interest and support exists.  We feature Northern California’s only Karnival Group including the official “Elferrat”. |
