New Photo Gallery E-mail

A little history: Several years ago, when our homepage was created, we stored all of our photos on our homepage. With the extended use of digital cameras our photos got better and better and more and more and larger and larger. To arrange 100 photos quickly into a photo album was almost impossible. After I took over to mange the homepage I moved all the photos with picasa (http://picasa.google.com/), to a free webspace to Google. It was easy to maintain and everybody could get easy access to the photos. But after almost a year, we were running out of space, we almost had a gigabyte on data! Now with our new provider we do have unlimited space and unlimited traffic, which allows us to store our photo's again on our servers. I did so with the Mayfest.

It is simple to use, log into the homepage with your user name and password. If you still not know how to do this, send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and I will help. There are two links, Photo Gallery shows the photos on our homepage, Photos (old) is still the active link to picasa. Click on Photo Gallery and you will see all the albums (currently only our Mayfest) as well as some statistical information. If you click on the photo of the album you will directly routed to the Gallery.

Here are some other nifty features:
  • You can see, how often a photo was viewie.
  • If you click on a thumbnail, the photo will be displayed. There is a filmstrip below, so you can navigate quickly between the photos.
  • If you click on a phot, a pop-up window will open and you will get access to the original photo in high-res, that's the photo you want to download Cool
  • You can rate photos and add comments - this is much funnier if we know what you think.
  • You can create your own favourites.
  • You can filter all photos by last comment, most viewed etc.
  • You can send a photo as a postcard, directly from our hompage
I hope you will enjoy our new photo gallery.
BTW. Many thanks to Terry Diamond, she provided us in the past with most of our photos!

As promised the functionality of our side will grow over the time. You want to know what is the time in Germany? Is it now minus 8 or minus 9 hours, when do their daylight-saving time start? Simple, have look at our homepage, lower left corner shows the current time for California and Germany. Here a hint to our German friends: Please check the time before you call us, it is not really funny go get on the phone at 4.30 am in the morning.

During our last meetings we had some discussions about German TV and how to watch this here in the States. That's why I started our weblink section, you will find some links to German web pages, where you can watch TV or listen to web radio. This section will grow over the time and there will be more. If you want to submit your own web link, you have to be a registered club member and login into the restricted member area.

Finally for those who are missing our photos, they are also in our restricted member area.
